17 new MLCs to be sworn in today
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: As many as 17 newlyelected MLCs will take their oath at the banquet hall of the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Monday. Council Chairman Basavaraja Horatti will administer them the oath of office.
The new entrants to the Upper House of the state legislature include the six MLCs elected from the Teachers and Graduates constituencies.
Among those sworn in would be Congress MLCs from Karnataka North-East Graduates seat Dr Chandrashekhar Patil, Ramoji Gowda (Bangalore Graduates) and DT Srinivas South East Teachers.
JD(S) MLCs SL Bhoje Gowda (South West Teachers), K Vivekananda (South Teachers) and BJP legislator Dhananjay Sarji (South West Graduates) will also take the oath. The rest of the 11 sworn were elected directly by the MLAs.
They include seven from the Congress, three from the BJP and another from allies JD(S).
