‘Dry Day’ in dengue affected areas: BBMP chief pushes micro-plans

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: In their bid to control the Dengue outbreak in city, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) had observed a ‘dry day’ in all eight zones by exhausting water sources in wards that are most affected by the outbreak.

Dengue is caused by the aedis Aegypti mosquito. Its larvae is found in stagnant water, including in sumps, mouths of taps, and flower pots, Chief Commissioner of the BBMP Tushar Girinath had visited New Thippasandra and GM Palya wards, which are high risk areas under the east zone.

Citizens were advised to discard water that was stored more than a week and refill with fresh water. He advised that ASHA workers be deployed for door-to-door awareness campaigns.

Reports on surveys should be uploaded in Platform for (PRISM-H) software for further studies.
