State govt seeks Gadkari nod for 10 infra projects

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Friday, demanding the approval of 10 infrastructure projects in Karnataka.

They were accompanied by Home Minister G Parameshwara, Energy Minister KJ George, Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi, Political Secretary to the CM K Govindaraju and Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) LK Atheeque, among othApart from these, Siddaramaiah asked Gadkari to reconsider the foreclosure of 39 projects.

The 10 projects that await approval on the other hand include tunnel from Shiradi Ghat from Maranhalli to Addahole Section of National Highway (NH) 75 between Mangaluru and Bengaluru, elevated corridor in Belagavi City on old NH-4, cable car for Gokak Falls in Belagavi district and flyover at Manipal hospital junction (Columbia Asia Hospital) in Mysuru City on NH-275, among others.

“I would like to draw your attention to the long standing issue of declaration of 39 ‘inprinciple approved roads’ as National Highways for a length of 5,225 kilometres. The Ministry has initiated action to foreclose the DPR (Detailed Project Report) preparations to the nearest stage of study. However, I would like to request you to reconsider the issue and take a decision to upgrade state highways with traffic intensity of more than 10,000 PCU (passenger car unit) per day,” Siddaramaiah wrote to Gadkari.
