BWSSB chairman directs officials to address complaints door-to-door

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), chairman Dr Ram Prasad Manohar has directed officials to address complaints arising from rain and water supply issues by visiting affected residents door-todoor.

This directive was issued during a meeting held at the BWSSB central office with senior officials, including heads of operations and maintenance, wastewater management, chief engineers, zonal engineers, and AEE officials. In early June, a city-wide shutdown was implemented for the inspection of the Cauvery 5th Stage project.

Since then, complaints about water supply disruptions and sewer overflows due to rainwater have been reported. Dr Manohar emphasised the need for officials to act promptly to prevent these issues.

He highlighted the success of managing water supply during the summer, which garnered national attention, and stressed the importance of efficiently handling the monsoon season as well. Dr Manohar instructed zonal chief engineers to form teams with their subordinate officials to address complaints.

He emphasised that there are 143 service centres in the city, and senior officials should personally manage complaints within these jurisdictions. Measures must be taken to prevent recurring issues with water supply and sewer overflows inwards and streets.

Starting next week, inspections will commence within the service centres' jurisdictions, beginning with areas reporting the highest number of complaints. Dr Manohar announced that these proactive steps aim to ensure efficient management of water and sewer systems during the monsoon season.
