
Guard, accomplices arrested for Rs 3.30 cr house burglary
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: In a breakthrough, Sadashivanagar police have arrested four miscreants, including a hired cook, for a daring burglary at a flat in the Sankey apartment, Sadashivanagar. The incident occurred while the homeowner was away on a business trip to Ooty.
The homeowner had entrusted the house keys to a guard after hiring a cook from Bihar in June and a gardener for the yard. Seizing the opportunity, the guard, along with two accomplices, broke into the house on July 2.
They used a machete to smash the door lock and made off with gold jewellery, silverware, idols, silk sarees, mobile phones and other valuables. Upon returning and discovering the theft, the homeowner filed a complaint with the Sadashivanagar police.
The police swiftly launched an investigation, scrutinising CCTV footage and forming a special team. Their efforts led them to Bihar, where they apprehended the three main suspects at Darbhanga Town Bus Stand on July 7.
The police recovered a staggering amount of stolen goods from the accused: 26 kg, 418 grams of silver items, 34 grams of gold items, 5 silk sarees, 2 smartphones, a Samsung tablet, a camera, 10 watches, and 6 kg of bronze items, collectively valued at approximately Rs 3.30 crore.
The suspects were presented in court on July 12 and have been remanded in judicial custody.
This successful operation was executed by a team led by Sadashivanagar Inspector BP Girish, Seshadripuram Subdivision Assistant Commissioner R Prakash, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner, Bangalore City Central Division, Shekhar H Teknannavar.
