3 held for getting Rs 2 cr loan using fake land documents

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested three individuals who obtained a loan of Rs 2.32 crore for the purchase of land using fake documents.

Shivanna, Syed Hashim, and Ranganath were arrested following a complaint filed by the Assistant General Manager of the Bangalore Central Branch of State Bank of India (SBI).

A person named Achukuttan had applied to SBI for a loan to purchase a property in Mallathahalli Village, Bangalore North Taluk from a person named Shivanna. In January 2023, the bank sanctioned a loan of Rs 1.16 crore.

After three installments, a notice was issued to Achukuttan by the bank when the subsequent installments were not paid. However, when the notice was not received, the bank officials visited the property and discovered it was in someone else's name.

The officials investigated and found that Mohammad Faiyaz had taken a loan of Rs 1.16 crore from SBI in October 2022 to purchase the same plot. It was revealed that Syed Hashim had provided false information to the buyer.

Additional Commissioner of Police Dr Chandragupta stated that the CCB has arrested the three accused.
