Roadwork on BVK Iyengar Road disrupts businesses and daily commuters

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The slow pace of white topping works on BVK iyengar road, which is a key business centre in the city, has been troubling local shopkeepers.

The ongoing road work has not only obstructed the daily commute of thousands but has also severely impacted business along this vibrant commercial stretch. The road which connects Chickept to other areas has also been dug up and has caused inconvenience to people and the motorist.

Shopkeepers are worried by construction which seems to have no end in sight. “we were initially told that the work would be completed within a month “said Mohan, owner of a textile shop.

"It has been three months, and we still don't know when it will be finished." The authorities should take some immediate action and complete the work as early as possible and should reduce the disruption for shopkeepers and the public as it is their priority to look into their concern.

Construction is causing big problems. Deliveries are late or don't show up at all. Anil Joshi, who owns a stationery shop, said "We are not getting the supplies we need, which hurts and is causing a huge damage to our business” , says the stationery owner. Deepak Kumar, a businessman, stated, “The road was previously in good condition, but it has been dig up for the white-topping work.

The authorities have not provided any information about the progress and have not completed the work. We are now worried about losing customers due to the ongoing work and fear the situation will get worse if it is not completed soon.

The work was supposed to start before the elections but was delayed, and now we are paying the price. Moreover, the noise and dust generated by the construction work has created a terrible shopping environment. Despite repeated complaints to the authorities, there seems to be little progress.

"We have raised our concerns multiple times, but the response has been slow," said Krishnappa as shopkeeper. "We need swift action to complete the construction and restore normalcy."

As the construction on BVK Iyengar Road drags on, the frustration among shopkeepers continues to mount. The local business community hopes for a swift resolution to resume their normal operations and recover from the losses incurred during these challenging months.
