Uproar over claim of dog meat supply
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Chaos ensued at both KSR Bengaluru and Yeshwantpur Junction Railway Stations of Friday after a few religious activists alleged that the meat brought from Jaipur to the city was of dogs and not mutton.
At Yeshwantpur Junction, Hindu activists alleged that in 90 boxes of red meat, around 4500 kilograms of dog meat was carried while claiming it was mutton. A trader claimed that this has been happening for the last six months.
“We usually pay around Rs. 700-750 for 1kg of mutton, but recently, a lot of profits are being earned by selling the meat at Rs 550,” he alleged.
Despite repeated requests, traders allege that they still keep getting dog meat.
“We’ve conveyed this to the chief minister, Dy CM, BBMP Chief Commissioner and the health commissioner. However, our pleas have landed on deaf ears,” he added.
According to sources, a team of FSSAI had arrived and had taken a sample. Later, a similar scene was witnessed outside KSR Bengaluru in the Majestic area.
According to the preliminary findings, officials state that the meat in question is mutton, not dog meat. Therefore, they advise not to believe the rumors circulating about the incident.
