Bengaluru beauticians demand government recognition and support

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The Bengaluru Beautician Women's Trust has raised several demands and has sought recognition and support for beauticians and makeup artists across Karnataka.

The demands include issue of beautician ID cards, loan facilities under the Arogya card, and ensuring that only certified beauticians can run parlours. The beautician's trust is led by President Savitha Nagesh.

They are also seeking financial support and fair business opportunities for experienced beauticians while addressing challenges posed by unregulated competition. They have demanded government-issued ID cards and strict licensing rules by BBMP for beauticians.

Savitha Nagesh highlighted the problems they are facing from government-trained young beauticians who she claims, offer services at low rates. This has led to a significant loss of clientele for established beauticians.

The BBMP must follow strict rules when granting licenses and ensure that only qualified beauticians can operate parlours. Additionally, the trust is demanding that a certificate of beautician training should be made mandatory for all beauticians in the city.

Other demands include a housing scheme for homeless beauticians, a pension system for those with 20-30 years of service, and a minimum distance of 500 meters between parlors to prevent oversaturation.
