BBMP initiates crackdown on unclean vacant plots, unauthorised ads

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has launched a stringent crackdown on unclean vacant plots and unauthorised advertisements within its jurisdiction.

Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath has directed officials to identify vacant plots across BBMP zones that fail to maintain cleanliness standards. Notices are being issued to plot owners, accompanied by fines for noncompliance.

Addressing a meeting at the BBMP Central Office on Monday, Girinath underscored the urgency of listing all vacant plots and taking immediate action. He stressed that the initiative aims to enhance cleanliness across the city and ensure compliance with environmental norms.

The BBMP has initiated le gal measures against unauthorised advertisements. Printing presses within BBMP zones have been instructed to cease producing unauthorised ads, with strict penalties for violations of environmental protection laws.

Additionally, Girinath emphasised on the swift commencement of white-topping projects to improve road infrastructure. He urged coordination with the traffic police to expedite these works and ensure minimal disruption.

Officials have also been tasked with ensuring proper maintenance of street lights and operating during designated hours to address citizen complaints promptly.

The initiatives come amidst rising concern over public health and environmental hygiene in Bengaluru, with BBMP officials committed to stringent enforcement to enhance civic conditions.
