HC orders strong measures to combat dengue spread

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The High Court of Karnataka has directed the state government and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike to take stringent action to curb the rising dengue cases across the state.

As of now, the state has reported 13,754 dengue cases, with Bengaluru facing a significant mosquito incursion. BBMP officials have identified 51 hotspots, but the court is concerned about the increasing mosquito population in the city.

The court has mandated that anyone found creating environments conducive to mosquito breeding be fined. Additionally, detailed information about mosquito controlmeasures must be provided.

To tackle the garbage problem, which contributes to the spread of dengue and other viral diseases, the court has ordered a certificate to be submitted by August 28 confirming the actions taken to address garbage management.

The situation is critical, with 10 deaths reported across various districts and around 300 new cases being registered daily. The state health department is actively working to manage the crisis by reserving hospital beds and conducting door-todoor surveys to raise awareness.

Authorities are urged to enhance their efforts to prevent mosquito breeding and ensure a comprehensive approach to tackling the dengue epidemic.
