Dasara to be grander this year, says CM Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the Dasara will be marked in Mysuru on a grander scale than the past few years.

He made the remarks at a press conference after the high-level meeting on ‘Nada Habba’ (festival of the state) Mysuru Dasara, at the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Monday.

He said that last year, that is 2023, Karnataka, especially the farmers of the state, had been distressed by drought. Prior to that there had been the three waves of Covid in the years 2022, 2021 and 2020.

The CM reasoned that since the pandemic was in the rearview mirror and as was the drought, Dasara should be grander.

There have been plentiful rains in Karnataka this year. Moreover, torrential downpour has caused most dams to reach full capacity and flooding and rain damage has also been noticed in parts of the state.

“Last year, it was not possible to celebrate the festival in a grand manner due to drought. This time there has been good rain across the state and almost all the reservoirs are full. In this backdrop, it has been decided to celebrate Dasara as a festival of the people,” Siddaramaiah said, adding that the tableaus should be even more beautiful this year.

Guarantees to be displayed at stalls

Moreover, the government's achievements and guarantee schemes will be displayed in the stalls of all the departments in the exhibition, the CM directed officials. Dasara celebrations will begin at Chamundi Hills on October 3 at 9:15 am.

On August 21, from 10:10 am, Gaja Puja will be performed at Veeranahosahalli in Hunsur taluk. Dasara will be held from October 3rd to 12th. As per tradition, there will be nine days of programs and on the 10th day, ‘jumbo savari’ (elephant rides) will be arranged.

The CM informed that on Jamboo Savari and Nandi Dwaja pooja will begin from 1:41 pm to 2:10 pm on October 12th and the procession will begin with pooja from 4 pm.
