CCB seeks transfer of 20 rowdies from prisons to curb crime

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has requested a court to transfer at least 20 notorious rowdies from Bengaluru prisons to facilities outside the city, according to a well-placed source. Among those targeted for transfer are Wilson Garden Naga and Ittamadu Sagar, among others.

This move follows the recent crackdown by Bengaluru police under the stringent Karnataka Control of Organised Crime Act (KCOCA), which was applied to 96 individuals last month.

Police Commissioner B Dayananda emphasised that the police force is employing all available legal measures to combat organized crime and disorder in the city. Despite these efforts, the situation remains challenging.

A senior officer from the CCB revealed that there have been troubling developments linked to rowdysheeters currently incarcerated in Bengaluru's prisons.

Many of these individuals are housed in the same barracks, raising concerns that they may be orchestrating criminal activities and issuing orders to their associates outside the prison.

The CCB believes that by transferring these rowdies to facilities outside the city, they can disrupt their ability to coordinate criminal activities and prevent them from influencing events on the streets of Bengaluru.

The decision to request the transfer underscores the CCB's commitment to tackling organized crime and improving public safety. The police aim to diminish the influence of these rowdies by severing their communication and control over criminal networks, both within and outside the prison system.
