Rs.8,800 crore CSR Fund allocated for rural digital education: DCM

CSR fund of Rs 8,800 crore will be allocated this time for primary education in villages, focusing on building up digital infrastructure so that rural students can directly match international standards via digital platforms, said Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.

Speaking at an event at the Bharat Jodo Auditorium on Teachers’ Day, the Deputy CM highlighted the importance of education and said: “I never studied much in my childhood due to certain circumstances. Others should not face the same problem. I know the true value of education, and now the reach of education has advanced digitally. Therefore, people from every corner of Karnataka have the right to access it.” In honour of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, around 150 awards were distributed among teachers. Teachers who have done exceptional work in their profession received the awards.

Speaking on Rajiv Gandhi, senior academician V.P. Niranjanaradhya said, "The NEP introduced by Rajiv Gandhi followed the framework of the Indian Constitution, where equal access to education was given to everyone. The new NEP, introduced in 2020, was based on the 'Agenda Setting Theory'. Hence, when our party came to power, we removed it and reinstated fair education for all."
