C.M. Ibrahim advocates new political party
NT Correspondent Bengaluru: Former Union minister and ex-JD(S) leader CM Ibrahim has advocated the formation of a new party. ''I don’t want to make my place in Vidhana Soudha; I want to have my place in the hearts of Kannadigas. I will support all efforts to form a new political party in Karnataka that is fully transparent, where the voices of Dalits are not discouraged and is free of casteism,'' said Ibrahim while addressing a state-level conference themed “Mar Karnatakada Mundenu?” (What's Next for Karnataka?), where a political session was held to discuss the formation of a new party on Sunday.
Ibrahim lamented that there is no ethics left in present-day politics. He cited former Prime Minister and JD(S) patriarch H.D. Deve Gowda saying, "Deve Gowda was a good leader, but now he has become like Dhritarashtra, who is blind, as his son has sold out all his ethics after aligning with the BJP. Since Deve Gowda no longer has any power, he is a puppet of his son and the BJP government." ''In politics, no one remembers my deeds. I was the one who supported H.D. Kumaraswamy when he won the Channapatna seat. Now, this unethical party has sidelined me, just as all parties do.
During my tenure, I witnessed many injustices faced by Dalits. When the new party is formed, Dalits will have the freedom to express their views and fulfill their demands,'' he added. He further highlighted that, in today's era, no party is allowing new faces to enter politics. If opportunities are given to all, only then will society improve, he stressed.
