Cauvery Phase 5 launch during upcoming Dasara

NT Correspondent Bengaluru: The Cauvery Phase 5 project, which aims to provide reliable water supply to every corner of Bengaluru, is set to be launched during the upcoming Dasara festivities. Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister, DK Shivakumar, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to achieving a water surplus in the city. During a recent inspection of the project's progress, Shivakumar visited key locations, including Krishnapriya Kalyana Mandapa, pipeline installations in Kengeri and the water treatment facility at TK Halli. He also reviewed operations at the Harohalli pump station and addressed the media.

Cauvery Phase 5 is set to be one of India’s largest water supply projects, designed to serve 5 million residents of Bengaluru. Central to the project is the construction of India’s largest water treatment plant, which will have a capacity of 775 million litres per day (MLD). Additionally, a sophisticated flood control system has been integrated to ensure uninterrupted operations. To facilitate water distribution, three advanced booster pumping stations have been constructed at TK Halli, Harohalli, and Tataguni, enabling water to be pumped to an elevation of 450 meters equivalent to a 50-story building through steel pipes varying from 500mm to 2200mm in diameter. Spanning approximately 110 kilometres, the project has utilized 145,000 metric tonnes of steel.
