Drugs in 600 parcels at Foreign Post Office

NT Correspondent Bengaluru: In an alarming revelation, the Foreign Post Office in Chamrajpet in the city has reportedly received over 600 parcels of narcotics, prompting the Central Crime Bureau (CCB) to jump in and investigate the matter, it was revealed on Sunday. The Foreign Post Office is home to postages and consignments sent from abroad to Bengaluru. In an inspection, it was found that narcotics like Cocaine, Heroin and MDMA were being sent from several countries and were found in 626 parcels. The CCB officials also found that these parcels have been coming here since 2018.

However, the names of the senders have not been revealed, reports said. The last consignment that reportedly arrived here was on September 9. The CCB has obtained permission from Bengaluru City Police (BCP) Commissioner B Dayananda to file a case against the alleged senders abroad. Bengaluru has increasngly seen drugs being trafficked and consumed by youth. An increasing sentiment for a drug-free society has been growing in the city. However this revelation has thrown up yet another challenge. The record of the police show that they have been cracking down such networks but more needs to be done.
