B’luru generated 6300 tonnes of waste during Dasara: BSWML
NT Correspondent Bengaluru: Post-festivities in Bengaluru, many garbage black spots have formed, with footpaths and roadsides filled with plantain leaves, flowers, and other biodegradable waste. The Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) has come under severe criticism for mishandling waste management, despite claiming that officers and marshals were deployed to guide sellers and residents on the proper disposal of such waste. On Monday, the BSWML, the solid waste management wing of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), cleared around 5,866 metric tonnes of waste, exceeding the city’s average of 4,900 tonnes. On Saturday, October 12, the city generated 6,306 tonnes, and on Sunday, October 13, it generated 5,561 tonnes. In 12 markets across the city, 414 tonnes have been cleared in the last two days.
