Post-int'l break, BFC look to continue perfect home record
NT Correspondent Bengaluru: Fresh off the international break, Bengaluru FC Coach Gerard Zaragoza remains grounded despite his team's impressive form. The Sree Kanteerava Stadium is set to witness an uphill battle between the Blues and Punjab FC this Friday. Both BFC and Punjab are the only teams yet to concede a goal. Bengaluru currently leads the table with 10 points, while Punjab closely trails behind with nine points. “It’s true that we have the best defensive record in the league and that we’re at the top of the table, but I’m not sure we can say we are in-form given the long break since our last game. What I can say for sure is that this will be a tough match between two teams eager to secure three points,” Zaragoza stated.
Bengaluru boasts a perfect home record, having won all three of their fixtures so far: 1-0 against East Bengal FC, 3-0 against Hyderabad FC, and 3-0 against Mohun Bagan Super Giant. Punjab FC welcomed Slovenian striker Luka Majcen back to training after a spell out with injury, though it remains to be seen if he will make Panagiotis Dilmperis’ squad for Friday’s fixture. Croatian Filip Mrzljak has been their standout performer, scoring twice in three games, including the winner against Kerala Blasters. In a show of support for women’s safety, the Blues will don their newly launched pink third kit for the match.
