10-man BFC retain perfect home record
NT Bengaluru: Despite playing a man short, Bengaluru FC remains the only team not to concede a goal after beating Punjab FC 1-0 in the Indian Super League (ISL) on Friday. In yet another home game at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium, the Blues, donning their special pink kit, registered another win, bringing their points tally to 12 in the league table. Bengaluru FC made a couple of changes, with Jorge Pereyra Diaz and Rohit Danu stepping in for Sunil Chhetri and local hero Vinith Venkatesh. Although Punjab FC, who were also among the teams yet to concede a goal, kept the Bengaluru FC defense busy, their lack of finishing let them down, as multiple chances from Norberto Vidal were missed. However, it took a wonderful strike from left-back Roshan Singh just before half-time to break the deadlock. Diaz, having evaded a couple of Punjab FC players, attempted to whip one in from the right channel, only for it to deflect off Tekcham Abishek Singh.
Fortunately, it fell perfectly for Roshan, who powered it in towards the keeper’s right to make it 1-0. The second half turned into a cagey affair, with questionable decisions from the referee raising tensions in the stadium. Chinglansana Singh received a second yellow card, leading to his dismissal, while BFC Assistant Coach Sebastian Vega was also sent off for dissent. He was visibly unhappy with the decision and had to be pulled away.
