Towing system yet to be reintroduced, says Joint Commissioner

NT Correspondent Bengaluru: The Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Anucheth, revealed that authorities are considering reintroducing the towing system for vehicles, although a final decision is still pending. Responding to public complaints and concerns about traffic flow, particularly in high-density corridors, Anucheth mentioned that discussions are ongoing, with several meetings planned before a conclusion is reached. Key issues driving this reconsideration include traffic congestion, parking problems, and the high volume of vehicles in these busy areas.

During a public interaction at Masika Sanchara Samparka Divasa on Saturday, held at Shashwathi Auditorium, NMKRV College, citizens voiced their concerns to senior traffic officers. The session provided a platform for locals to highlight traffic-related problems, such as abandoned vehicles, wrong-side driving, and malfunctioning CCTV cameras. A notable concern raised by a resident of KS Layout was the traffic congestion near Forum Mall, where parked vehicles are obstructing stretches of the road. The Joint Commissioner assured the public that the issue would be addressed and hinted at the possible reinstatement of the towing system as a solution.

Other concerns raised by citizens included the need for streetlights, speed breakers, and vehicle impounding to curb growing traffic violations. While no official decision has been made regarding the towing system, the authorities are actively exploring measures to improve traffic management and address the public's concerns.
