In a massive relief for commuters, the Green Line extension of Namma Metro from Nagasandra to Madawara on Tumakuru Road, is likely to be thrown open from 5 am on Thursday, November 7. At present, the Green Line operates from Silk Institute in the south to Nagasandra in the North West of the city. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is expected to make this line operational after the outrage on Monday over long queues after people returning to the city from the long weekend.

The 3.8 kilometre stretch was under construction for almost eight years. Three new stations namely Manjunath Nagar, Chikkabidarakallu and Madawara will be open, making the Green line 33 kilometres long. This also comes a month after the safety inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS). However, this stretch will be remembered for being the overhead section which was built the slowest.
