An apartment complex in Hegde Nagar in Thanisandra has landed in trouble for having an illegal sanitary line connected to the Cauvery Stage V water supply pipeline. Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) investigated the matter after complaints on severe deterioration in water quality to neighboring properties following a sudden surge from the Cauvery pipeline. It was found that the owner of Royal Bliss Apartments had allegedly connected its sewage line to the supply line and concealed it with concrete.
However, the connection failed to hold on after the supply line was commissioned with water of 12 kg per square centimetre pressure passing down the pipe. This resulted in water wastage and a damaged pipeline. The BWSSB claims that it cleaned and disinfected the water adding that it is ready to be supplied to the 110 villages under Cauvery Stage V. A criminal case will be filed against the owner and a civil suit is also planned to recover the financial losses incurred by BWSSB.
Cauvery water supply to be disrupted from 9 pm on Wednesday; Owing to water levelling work at GKVK for the Cauvery Stage V water supply project to 110 villages, the BWSSB will shut down water supply to homes which have a Cauvery Stage 4 - Phase 2 connection, for 24 hours from 9 pm on Wednesday to 9 pm on Thursday.
The affected areas are: Sarvodaya Nagar, Noor Layout, Shampura Railway Gate Vyalikaval Veeranna Palya, Narayanswamy Layout, Railway Gate, Oil Mill Road, HRBR Layout, RS Palya. There will be variation in water supply in Quatrus, OMBR Layout, Hennur and Ramaswamy Palya.
