A 16-year-old student from Bangalore International School allegedly died by suicide in the early hours of Monday. The boy, a first-year pre-university college (1st PUC) student, reportedly jumped from the 7th floor of his apartment building, Mantri Splendour. Authorities believe the incident occurred between 1:30 am and 5 am. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the incident to uncover contributing factors. Bengaluru has witnessed two tragic incidents involving tenagers this week, leaving the community in shock and sparking critical conversations about mental health and family dynamics. In a separate case, a 14-year-old boy from Bengaluru’s Kumaraswamy Layout succumbed to injuries after allegedly being beaten by his father over excessive mobile phone usage.
Both incidents underline the importance of addressing mental health challenges among youth and fostering open communication within families. Experts emphasise the need for schools, parents, and communities to work together in creating supportive environments where teenagers feel heard and valued. As the investigations continue, these tragedies serve as a reminder of the pressures young people face and the urgent need for intervention to prevent such losses.
