A police constable has been accused of harassing a young woman during passport verification. The incident took place in Byatarayanpura police station limits after a complaint was filed by a female technician. Constable Kiran was suspended for his indecent behavior. The woman, a resident of Bapuji Nagar, had recently applied for a passport to pursue higher studies abroad. Constable Kiran of Byatarayanpura station, who had gone to the young woman's house for passport verification, was accused of indecent behavior.
Kiran allegedly entered the house and half-closed the door. He then allegedly said to the young woman, "Your brother has a criminal background. Your passport may be cancelled. You have to cooperate with me, close the door." When the woman refused to do so, he closed the door himself and allegedly told her, "Don't tell anyone, I will hug you only once." While misbehaving with the woman, the police constable noticed that her brother was in another room of the house. Kiran then allegedly changed his tone and said, "I acted like this because you were inside." He then blocked her number without providing any information about the verification. The young woman complained to the DCP of the West Division. After conducting the investigation, Kiran was arrested by West Division DCP S Girish, who suspended him.
