The wet spell in Bengaluru finally ended on Saturday after showers lashed the city for five days. The rains began on December 1 as Cyclone Fengal made landfall near Puducherry in the wee hours on the same day. At its peak on Monday, the city received 33.7 mm of rain. The early hours of Tuesday had also witnessed showers. However, rains started tapering Thursday onwards. On Friday, as little as 0.5 mm of rain lashed Bengaluru as per India Meteorological Department (IMD). The weather department added that the quantum of rainfall in the city on Saturday had been zero mm. Cyclones, under some circumstances, draw moist winds towards nearby regions. Moreover, the North East Monsoon (NEM) is also active over neighbouring Tamil Nadu and does bring some rain to parts of Karnataka including Bengaluru.
