Civil society groups have condemned the alleged flouting of rules by both the Delhi and UP Police in Bengaluru and the alleged harrasement of Mohammed Zubair and Nadeem Khan. A delegation of the activists approached the Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG and IGP) at Nrupathunga Road here to express their concern. This comes after Nadeem Khan, who’s the National secretary of the Association for People’s Civil Rights was detained in Bengaluru by the Shaheen Bagh Police from Delhi.

Journalist and fact-checker Zubair had faced a similar plight after flagging a video of Yati Narsinghanand’s alleged hate speech against Muslims and women. The UP Police had then reportedly barged into his residence. The Bengaluru police were not notified in both cases, showing procedural violations, activist Vinay Srinivas claimed.

This is not the first time police of another state have come to Karnataka to detain someone here. In Disha Ravi?s case, the Delhi police had detained her from Bengaluru. Both the DG and IGP and the Additional Director of Police (ADGP) were not available, the activists said.
