
Sahitya Sammelana concludes with pro-Kannada resolutions, Ballari to host next edition

The three day 87th Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana concluded on Sunday evening after adopting several pro-Kannada resolutions. Honorary treasurer of the Kannada Sahitya Parishath Patel Pandu in the five resolutions adopted during the event, appealed to the state government to ensure effective implementation of the Kannada Language Comprehensive Development Act, 2022. The Sammelana wanted the state government to have an elected president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat as vice president for the committee constituted for effective implementation of the Kannada Language Act.
They also demanded that the government take all measures for strengthening state-run schools with with all infrastructure including library, playgrounds, compound wall, toilet, besides recruiting adequate teaching and non teaching staff. He urged the government to clear legal disputes related to providing jobs to Kannadigas in both private and public sector units and effectively implement the Sarojini Mahishi recommendations.
Patel Pandu also appealed to the state government to make all necessary preparations to hold the World Kannada Literary meet at Davangere in association with Kendra Sahitya Parishath. The government must also announce the “Rashtrakavi” award which has not been announced for several years, he stressed.
The Kannada Sahitya Parishat has decided to host the next edition of the lit fest at Ballari, which will be announced officially later. Union minister H D Kumarawamy, the MP from Mandya who took part in the valedictory event of the Sammelana, said that he would initiate all measures for revival of the Bhadravathi Iron and Steel company in Shivamogga and HMT in Bengaluru very soon. He also promised that he would strive hard to bring more industries if the state government cooperates with him.
