Bengaluru: Ten days post the launch, the Karnataka Milk Federation, finds pleasantly surprised over the quick shortage of stocks of the Why-based Dosa batter, as demand in the city has skyrocketed on Sunday. On December 25, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah along with cabinet colleagues unveiled Nandini’s Whey-based Dosa and idli batter, in its tryst at the ready-to-cook food market dominated by private players like iD, Asal and MTR. 450 grams of batter is sold at Rs 40, while 900 grams of the same at Rs 80.
According to reports, around 2250 tons of batter had been sold, and the KMF is preparing to sell it in other districts of the state. The addition of Whey, which is a byproduct of cheese, might be the gamechanger for Nandini. Whey, a good source of protein, is most sought after by gym goers and body builders. Outlets in the city have reported shortage of stocks, it is learnt. Managing Director of KMF B Shivaswamy said it would be restocked soon.
