Bengaluru voter count rises by 4.2 lakh in a year

Bengaluru: Bengaluru's voters have increased by 4.2 lakh from January 2024 to Monday, January 6, 2025, as announced by the election department of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), led by chief Tushar Girinath, who also serves as the District Election Officer. As of Monday, Bengaluru's voter count stands at 1,02,64,714. In 2024, the city participated in the Lok Sabha elections with an initial enumeration of 98.43 lakh voters, which rose to 1.01 crore just before the polls.
The draft electoral roll prepared in October last year recorded 1.024 crore voters, which has since increased by around 23,000 new additions. Male voters saw a rise of approximately 20,000, from 52.69 lakh to 52.80 lakh, while female voters increased by 12,000, from 49.7 lakh to 49.82 lakh. The third gender category now includes 1,838 voters, a marginal increase of seven since October. Girinath noted that over 95,000 first-time voters have been added, along with 2,294 NRI voters, 1,712 service voters, and 32,505 voters with disabilities (PwD).
