Mysuru DC to teachers: Train school students in technology, use of tablets
NT Correspondent
Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner G Lakshmikanth Reddy on Monday highlighted the need to educate government school students about technology, particularly access to tablets in an increasingly technology-driven society. He was speaking after distributing tablets among students given by Infosys foundation utilising its CSR funds, at a function held in the city.
He asked teachers to integrate such technology skills in the school curriculum as such measures not only promote digital literacy but also help students access online resources. Teaching students in the use of tablets, helps them in research and writing and to make presentations besides fulfilling other academic tasks, Reddy said. Teachers must also encourage students to learn keyboarding, internet navigation and online safety tools and encourage them to explore creative applications of technology such as coding and multimedia projects, he said.
The DC wanted teachers to train the students in the use of mobile tablets from class 5. He advised teachers to upgrade technological skills so that they are equipped to teach students. Additional deputy commissioner P Shivaraja hailed the initiative of Infosys Foundation to donate tablets to government school students so that they can have access to computers and tablets. In the first phase, Infosys has come forward to donate tablets to 70 selected schools.
