Bengaluru: With the rising number of vehicles, the city’s roads are witnessing frequent traffic congestion and accidents. A recent incident near Bommasandra Flyover, where a car driver helped an injured scooterist, has sparked public outrage after the police allegedly mistreated him.

On March 18, around 4:50 PM, a speeding scooter crashed into a car from behind on the Bommasandra Flyover. The entire incident was captured on the car’s dashboard camera and later shared on social media by ‘Citizen Movement East Bengaluru.’ The collision severely damaged the car’s rear, while the scooterist sustained a head injury. The car driver, Sathish Kumar Jayaraj, acted responsibly by rushing the injured motorist to Narayana Hrudayalaya hospital and covering the medical expenses. After ensuring medical attention, he visited the local police station to report the accident.

However, instead of supporting him, the police confiscated his car keys, instructing him to collect them the following day. Jayaraj later expressed his frustration on social media, stating that he had only informed the police out of duty but was now facing undue trouble. His post, tagged to the City Police Commissioner, highlighted his helplessness.

Meanwhile, the injured motorist’s family showed reluctance to visit the police station. This incident has fueled public debate on the treatment of responsible citizens who extend help during accidents. Many are urging authorities to ensure better support for Good Samaritans.
