Told Puneeth to check his heart: City docs
It’s ironic, perhaps that on September 29, 2021, or World Heart Day, it was Puneeth Rajkumar who shared the stage with senior cardiac surgeons and cardiologists at the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research. They pointed to Puneeth and advised him to take medications and run some tests, as cardiac issues run in the family.
Dr. KS. Ravindranath, a senior cardiologist at Jayadeva Hospital told NT, “When we were on the stage with him during the event, we told him that his brothers also have cardiac issues and hence we need to be put on Statins, a medication that reduces cholesterol levels in the body. Since he had his personal doctors, we did not interfere much.” He added, “Every individual between the age of 30 and 40 needs to undergo several tests and ensure that their heart is healthy. All bodies contain a certain level of cholesterol and it should not be high because this causes clots in the blood vessels. So, we prefer medications like Statins which will help to reduce cholesterol and allow people to survive for a little longer. We cannot say how much longer but it can definitely push the risks.”
Statins are a group of medicines that can help lower the level of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol in the blood. LDL cholesterol is often referred to as “bad cholesterol”, and statins reduce the production of it inside the liver.
“Not just that, excessive training for the body needs to be in graded format. Extreme exercising and workouts should be done in a phased manner. Everyone needs to understand this and should not ignore it. But, unfortunately, these stars do all these things because their career is all about that and this leads to something more dangerous,” he added.
Dr P Ranganath Nayak, a cardiologist at the Vikram hospitals, a unit of Manipal Hospitals, said to the media that Puneeth was completely unresponsive when he arrived and there was no brain activity.
