Bengaluru: Kickstart FC has emerged champions for the third successive time in Karnataka Women’s League by defeating Misaka FC 3-1 on Monday. The game, which was played at Bangalore Football Stadium, started with a brilliant goal by Nirmala Devi at the 16th minute. Owning the possession for most of the time, Kickstart looked in total control over the match.
With the crowd’s roar on Kavya’s back, who’s the league’s top scorer, extended the lead for Kickstart by headbutting one at the 35th minute and a well-timed shoot from inside the box at the 55th minute. Although Misaka came out with giving it all strategy towards the end of the secondhalf, they ended up scoring a lone goal by Lal Biak Diki at the 75th minute, which of course wasn’t enough.
Aishwarya, the saviour
One of the main reasons for Kickstart FC to end up on a winning side was their goalie Aishwarya. She ended up saving two hard-to-stop goals at the crunch time which made all the difference in the end. Aishwarya has been awarded the player of the match for her brilliance at the goal post. Kickstart’s Kavya top-scored the league with 15 goals. N.A. Haris (MLA, & President of KSFA) distributed trophies to winners and runner-up. Satyanarayan (General Secretary), M. Kumar (Treasurer), Aslam Khan (Deputy General Secretary) and KSFA Referee Committee were present on the occasion.
