Healthier family begins with its women
Bengaluru: Manipal Hospitals on Wednesday celebrated the country’s 73rd Republic Day with a commitment to make women’s health as its prime focus this year. The healthcare centre honoured Bengaluru-based Brinda Adige, founder and mentor of Global Concerns India and a women’s rights activist on the occasion.
Manipal Hospitals highlighted that women’s health is pivotal and thus, the first step at improving it is for the woman to take care of herself before her family. For most Indian women, family welfare comes first, rendering personal welfare to the back seat. As a leading healthcare provider in Bengaluru, the hospital is working towards providing the best healthcare and is creating awareness among women to come forward to do their preventive health checks on a regular basis to thwart high-risk ailments.
Women face many healthcare issues, such as malnutrition, maternal-health issues, mental-health issues, urinarytract infections, sexual health, as well as being diagnosed with breast cancer and cardiovascular diseases. With this in perspective, Manipal Hospitals has introduced preventive health packages for women and children.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Manish Rai, Hospital Director, Manipal Hospitals, Old Airport Road, said, “This Republic Day, we at Manipal Hospitals, have vowed to focus on the importance of women’s health. Women always tend to ignore their health concerns, while keeping the welfare of their family as their first priority. We would like to emphasise that women are the biggest source of power to families. We at Manipal Hospitals are delighted to honour these icons and their unwavering spirit on the occasion of Republic Day.”
“Women are an important pillar of the family and the community. Families and institutions must make it possible for women to come forward to take decisions that affect their overall health. Women must be encouraged to take care of their health, so that they are able to utilise their full potential and contribute to their own wellbeing and that of their loved ones. I am delighted that Manipal Hospitals is taking a big step toward that and identifying the health concerns of these women,” added Brinda Adige.
