Bengaluru: The Karnataka unit of Campus Front of India on Sunday organised a seminar on Martyr’s Day in memory of Mahatma Gandhi, who was assassinated in the Birla House in New Delhi by Nathuram Vinayak Godse on January 30, 1948. Parvateesha Bilidaale, a journalist and president of ‘Naave Karnataka’ group said that there is a lot to learn from the struggles of our ‘father of nation.’

Speaking at the seminar, the Campus Front General Secretary shed light on the activities of RSS members including Godse and Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. Much ink has been spilled on determining whether Godse, a resident of Pune, was, at that time of assassination, a member of the RSS, or indeed of the Hindu Mahasabha, or perhaps of neither organisation.

“Godse, as investigations after Gandhi’s murder were to reveal, appears to have been close to Savarkar, a prominent leader of the Hindu Mahasabha. But today, the ruling regime under the RSS is trying to erase the truth of Gandhiji’s murder from the history and the mainstream secular parties are falling to uphold their tenets.” he said.

“Gandhiji contributed immensely for the Indian freedom movement while also being vocal for the Hindu- Muslim unity. It is the dire need of the hour to be vocal against the murderers of Mahatma Gandhiji. This stigma can never be wiped out from history,” said Campus Front State President Athavulla Punjalkatte added.
