Car hits tree in Shivamogga: three dead

Three members of a family were killed after their car ravelling collided head-on with a tree on Vani Vilas Road in Hiriyur taluk of Shivamogga district on Tuesday.

The police identifi ed the deceased as Sudeeksha, 17, Renuka Devi, 39, and Vishalakshi, 70. However, a 13-year-old minor, identifi ed as Prateeksha, survived with injuries. According to Hiriyur Rural police, who conducted the spot inspection, Renuka Devi lost control of the vehicle while driving causing it to ram into a tree. The family was returning to Bengaluru after attending a wedding in Bhadravathi.

Due to the impact, Sudeeksha and Vishalakshi died on the spot while Renuka Devi breathed her last on her way to hospital. Prateeksha was shifted to a hospital and is currently under treatment for her injuries. The police have registered a case.
