Strict parenting sometimes hurts

Sometimes, strict parenting may evoke adverse consequences, and Raju and Shobha learnt the hard way when their 13-year-old son, Dileep disappeared five days ago. News Trail which published the story on Sunday on what could have made the boy leave home.

The panic-stricken family searched everywhere in vain. “We finally found him in Ramanagar on Monday. We asked him why he left home to which he replied that he was not interested in studying. We will not pressure him to study. We will take him to tourist spots to make him forget the days he spent alone,” Shobha told News Trail.

Raju and Shobha’s joy knew no bounds when they found their 13-year-old son Dileep on Monday evening, after he went missing five days ago.

The News Trail had published the story on Sunday narrating how strict parenting has forced the boy to leave home to an unknown destination.

“We have found our son. Thanks to the media and the police for finding out our youngest son,” Shobha told NT She also thanked NT for highlighting the incident.

The boy had left his home after being pressured by his parents to study well. His parents searched everywhere, including the houses of relatives and friends. Before fleeing the boy had reportedly borrowed money from his classmates. He spent a few days in Ramanagara.

The family had searched in Mysuru, Bengaluru, Kunigal, Bidadi and other neighbouring districts. Now the parents are so worried that they do not want to ask how and where Dileep o spent the last five days.

“We found him in Ramanagara on Monday evening g at around 6.15 pm. We only asked why he left home and s he replied he was not inter- e ested in studies. We will not s pressure him to study...let r him do what he wishes. We i will take him to the tourist spots of his interest to make him forget the days he spent alone,” Shobha said.

It may be recalled that Dileep, who is studying in eight standard, was also scared of his elder brother Darshan. He used to beat him up if his advice was ignored.

Dileep, a resident of Ganesha Temple Road in Bengaluru South taluk, had left home on Wednesday after returning home from school. Now the parents will have to take the boy to the police station as they have filed a complaint.

“After completing the formalities, we will close the case. We will also try to find out that there is no foul play behind the boy leaving the home,” said a police officer.
