For around 100 students of Shishu Mandir it was a different sort of picnic. These students brought water in cans from their homes for watering saplings planted on Battarahalli lake bund.
Many of these students even decided to adopt those saplings. “It was amazing to see the energy and enthusiasm among the students. Thanks to Shishu Mandir School staff and management for coordinating the students and special thanks to Balaji Raghotham who is spearheading the initiative,” said Bhagyalakshmi G, a resident.
She said that she happened to come across Balaji Raghotham and other lake volunteers watering the saplings on the lake bund a few days ago and decided to become a lake volunteer. “I have been visiting the lake for a walk in the morning. I saw the good work being carried out by Balaji Raghotham and others. I felt so happy to see school children watering the saplings,’’ she said.
Appreciating the students and the staff members of Shishu Mandir, Balaji Raghotham, a lake volunteer who has been encouraging residents and children to bring water from their homes for watering the saplings at Seegehalli, Basavanapura and other lakes, has said the students of Shishu Mandir have adopted the saplings planted on the North side of the lake.
