Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President D.K. Shivakumar has called on citizens to support the Congress party which will ensure the prices of commodities used by the common man are rolled back.

Launching a campaign against the rising prices of fuel, LPG and essential commodities in Tumakuru city on Sunday, he slammed the BJP led NDA government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for failing to control prices and making the life of the common man miserable. The prices of petrol, diesel and LPG have doubled under the current dispensation, he said adding that former Congress president Rahul Gandhi has been fighting against the BJP government on behalf of citizens.

Shivakumar said AICC President Sonia Gandhi had spoken to him about the Tumakuru rally and wanted it to be a grand success. She had said that there should not be any bogus membership by cutting and pasting photos and addresses of members of other parties. The membership target for Karnataka is 50 lakh and leaders must visit every village and enrol new members, he added.

The PCC president said that while earlier Congress governments had created assets by establishing public sector undertakings, the NDA government has been privatising everything including railways, airports and ports. It was high time the government at the Cen - tre is shown the door before it is too late. Already, people have given the ruling BJP a befitting reply to its anticitizen policies through the ballot, he said.

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Siddaramaiah took Prime Minister Narendra Modi to task for making false promises to citizens and wanted to know whether ‘Acche Din’ had really come. The popularity graph of PM Modi is declining with every passing day and the BJP will not return to power in the 2024 parliamentary elections. The PM is hoodwinking people by promising everything but not delivering anything. People are fed up and will vote against the BJP in the coming election, he added

Former Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwar and others were present.
