A 21-year-old private firm employee was stabbed during an unsuccessful robbery attempt near Bidadi on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Road.
The incident happened around 5.15 am on Friday, while the employee, identified as B. Mythishwaran, was waiting for the company bus. The assailants fled when he raised an alarm.
The police suspect the accused must have observed the victim’s daily routine of taking the office pick-up from that particular spot. Mythishwaran works for a tool manufacturing company and stays in a rented room in Billakempanahalli in Bidadi. He hails from Vellore in Tamil Nadu.
“Mythishwaran is undergoing treatment in a private hospital near Kengeri. While he was shifted to the hospital on Friday morning, his condition was critical. The accused attacked his thigh leaving a deep cut injury. The victim had lost a lot of blood, but timely medication has helped him survive. His company’s pickup bus comes at 5.45 am on a daily basis, but the victim comes well in advance to avoid missing the bus,” Abhishek, the victim’s friend told NT.
The accused had come on a bike and initially told him to hand over all the valuables. When he refused, they got down the bike and tried to search the victim’s pant pockets. When he held on to the mobile phone, the accused tried to snatch it. When he tried to resist, the accused attacked him with a lethal weapon.
The two escaped after another company’s bus approached the spot and the victim started screaming for help. “The accused escaped after throwing the dagger at the crime scene. The two are said to have escaped towards Bengaluru. After providing him first aid in a nearby hospital, Mythishwaran was later shifted to another hospital near Kengeri,” Abhishek added.
The police have recorded the statements of the victim and have sent the dagger for fingerprint analysis to check if they matched with any criminals in their database. The police are also checking the footage near the scene of crime, for clues about the accused duo.
The jurisdictional police have registered a case.
