Students wearing hijab cannot appear for SSLC exam

Primary and Secondary Education Minister BC Nagesh clarified that students wearing the hijab will not be allowed to appear in the final SSLC examination scheduled to be held across the State from March 28.

He told reporters in Bengaluru that all students have to strictly follow the final verdict of the High Court of Karnataka on the hijab. The state government has decided to strictly implement the final orders of the HC. “Hence, the students will not be permitted to write the examination wearing the hijab.”

Nagesh went on to plead “not to create unnecessary controversy on the subject since the HC has delivered its final verdict, making it the duty of everyone including the government and students to abide by it”. For the first time after two years of Corona-19 pandemic, the students were getting ready to appear for offline examinations. Keeping their enthusiasm in mind, the education department has made elaborate arrangements. “It is must for every student to strictly follow the HC verdict even while writing the examination,” he added.
