Art on your ceiling: Luxury designer fans have redefined the way you will look at your ceilings
By Tarun Lala
If you thought fans are just a functional piece of furniture and can be the last-minute inclusion while planning the interiors of your room, you are wrong. Gone are also the days when the ubiquitous ‘pankha’ used to adorn the ceilings in staid monochrome.
Luxury designer fans in the market have redefined the way you will look at your ceilings. Now fans can be integrated with your room interiors at the time of planning your room décor so that you can mix and match it with the décor.
There are several types of fans: ceiling, tower and pedestal fans. Each one has a different utility. There are fans exclusively for dining rooms, bedrooms, smaller areas and even outdoors.
If your living room décor is embellished with gold or silver for instance, you can opt for the blingy yet regal fans. For large living and dining spaces you can opt for fandeliers which are fans with chandeliers.
If your interiors have a lot of antique furniture and artefacts, the fans to go in for are old-world charm types. For tight spaces like small conference rooms, or home offices, fans that don’t occupy much space and are highly efficient. For changing rooms, foyers, utilities and other smaller areas there are mini fans as an option. Then there are colourful options for children’s bedrooms.
But what are fans today without technology? To keep up pace with the tech age, luxury fans today come packed with a lot of tech heavy features.
The market also has unique fans with Bluetooth, with summer-winter features for clockwise and anti-clockwise rotations and fans that rotate 360 degrees and sense human temperatures.
So next time you are contemplating redesigning your room, think of your ceilings too.
