A museum which will give glimpses of the life and times of former PM Deve Gowda, starting from his childhood days, is coming up at Hardanahalli village in Holenarasipur taluk of Hassan district.
It will showcase the growth of Gowda from a humble farmer to a civil contractor, a local body member, MLA, CM, MP and then Prime Minister in a political career spanning over 60 years.
The former PM, who is in his late 80s, still participates in Rajya Sabha deliberations and works to strengthen the party from the grassroot level.
The foundation stone for the museum was laid by Sri Vidhushekara Mahaswamiji of Sringeri at Hardanahalli. Gowda is one of the most respected political leaders in the country and has done a lot in the irrigation and agriculture sectors.
The museum will have all information on his life and achievements and will display the gifts he received as PM both in India and abroad, photographs of his electoral battles from his first election to the recent Tumakuru Lok Sabha poll, pictures of his close associates and books published on him.
It is coming up with funds provided by the Public Works Department with the cost estimated to be around Rs 5 crore.
