PSI scam: Dismiss HM, AAP tells Governer

By NT Correspondent

Bengaluru: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) State President Prithvi Reddy on Tuesday wrote to the Governor demanding the immediate dismissal of Home Minister Araga Jnanendra over the Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) recruitment scam.

A delegation led by Reddy which comprised of senior leaders of the party including retired IPS Officer Bhaskar Rao met Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot and demanded that he issue orders for the speedy implementation of three demands of AAP.

The first demand is the sacking of Araga. “The Home Ministry is a very sensitive department and Araga Jnanendra has shown his inability and inexperience time and again since his appointment. Hence he should be sacked immediately and a capable person appointed in his place. The Governor must issue an order to this effect,” Bhaskar Rao said.

The second demand is conducting a re-examinaton. Reddy said that 52,000 candidates had taken the PSI examination and in the wake of the scam, re-exam needs to be held. A new examination authority must be constituted and the exams held in a transparent manner, he added.

The third demand is a speedy and unbiased investigation. “The investigation by the CID into the scam is progressing at a slow pace and the government can influence the investigation, which will cause further delay and hence, a time frame must be fixed for completing the investigation. The guilty need to be arrested immediately and a chargesheet filed at the earliest,” Reddy said. AAP leaders Naganna Gowda, Channappa Gowda Nellur and Jagadish Chandra were also present.
