Bengaluru: Three persons have been arrested by Yelahanka police for kidnapping a techie.
Based on a complaint filed by the techie, Ajay Pandey, three persons - Chaitanya Sharma, Vaibhav and Amit - have been arrested. The court has remanded them to judicial custody.
Police said the main accused, Chaitanya Sharma owned a business near Banaswadi. In 2020, he had sought Pandey’s help to build an ecommerce website for his company.
Pandey apparently disabled the website after Chaitanya failed to pay for his services.
Pandey even stopped attending the calls from Sharma and went into hiding.
"The accused claimed that Pandey demanded more money to update the website. When the accused did not pay him, Pandey allegedly disabled the website from the server. This angered the accused and they kidnapped Pandey,” police said.
Recently he was spotted and the accused managed to get his contact number. The accused then posed as a customer in need of a website and requested to meet him on BB Road at Yelahanka on April 23. The accused kidnapped him and threatened him with a pistol. They demanded Pandey to Rs 6.35 lakh to make up for their business losses.
Pandey was forced to arrange the amount and hand it over to the accused. He was then threatened and set free, police said. The police are interrogating the accused.
