Bengaluru: As the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is busy tracing and raiding the corrupt government officials, the Karnataka police have found several reports of anti-social elements extorting money posing as ACB officials.
Additional Director General of Police, ACB, Seemanth Kumar Singh said that ACB has filed 26 FIRs in connection with extortion of money from government officials in the name of ACB. He also added that a chargesheet has been filed in six cases. “Twenty cases are at the investigation stage. These FIRs are registered based on the complaints by government employees,” he informed.
In a fresh case reported by News Trail, a resident of Rajarajeshwari Nagar was asked to book flight tickets to Sri Lanka by a caller claiming himself to be Deputy Superintendent of Police with the ACB.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau was launched during the tenure of Siddaramaiah as the Karnataka Chief Minister. The personnel are now actively raiding the corrupt officials across the state.
The ADGP requested the public and government employees to immediately alert the ACB, if they come across any such attempt to extort money.
