Bengaluru: The recent arrest of two people by the Subramanyanagar police has brought to light a supari murder that took place nearly seven months ago. The police had earlier registered a case of a missing woman, but they have now turned it to murder under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code.
The deceased, Seetha, 47, a resident of Rajajinagar, went missing on March 26, this year and her brother Venkatesh Achar had filed a police complaint. After the recent arrest of two people, Sathya and Noor Ahmed, it now turns out that Achar had given a supari of Rs 2.5 lakh to a fourmember gang to kill his sister over a property dispute.
After getting his sister eliminated, Achar had filed a missing complaint with Subramanyanagar police. The police launched a search, but they also went through Achar’s call details. They initially picked up Sathya and later Ahmed.
While interrogating the duo, they came to know that two other accused, Mental Raghu and Kumar, have died and the reasons for their deaths is yet to be ascertained. The family hails from Manthralaya. “Seetha and her brother had differences over selling a property in Manthralaya in Andhra Pradesh. Achar wanted to sell it but his sister was refusing to sign the documents. A frustrated Achar then contacted the four accused and gave them supari,” said a police officer.
As per the plan, Mental Raghu, who was known to Seetha, told her to accompany him to buy gold from Hassan at a cheaper rate. The other three accused had also joined them.
En route, she felt unwell and asked for a tablet for headache. The accused gave her a cyanide tablet and after she died, they disposed of the body at a canal at Hosapete.
While analysing the chat details of Achar’s phone, the police stumbled upon a message which had the word ‘cyanide’ in it. The police then picked up Sathya and Ahmed. Police have launched a manhunt for Achar, who is now on the run. They are also trying to trace the victim’s body.
