Bengaluru: Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant (in the photo) on Wednesday emphasised the need for public cooperation in order to keep the city safe and to maintain law and order. He also clarified that so far no untoward incident has been reported after the loudspeaker row.

“There is no disorder or disputes among the communities over the use of loudspeakers. People in the city are obeying the guidelines and order set by the governments,” he said.

The Karnataka government on Tuesday asked all users of ‘sound-producing instruments’ to obtain written permission from authorities within 15 days, as part of a broad set of directions to regulate the use of loudspeakers in the state, in the wake of loudspeaker row.

The circular was issued by an Under-Secretary to the government following a note sent by state Chief Secretary P Ravi Kumar to Additional Chief Secretary Jawaid Akhtar, department of forest, ecology and environment, to tackle the issue.

“Those who use the loudspeaker must also follow the decibel rule. No loudspeaker is allowed from 10 pm to 6 am. Stringent action will be taken against those trying to disturb the peace in Bengaluru,” the police chief warned.
