This 14-year-old took umpteen safaris to spot a black panther

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chitrakala Parishth this week is exhibiting the work of 14-year-old wildlife photographer Amoghavarsha titled Moghi’s Tales.
It showcases almost seven to eight years of photos that this teenager has taken while traveling across forests in the country.
It has been spread over three categories: carnivores (that include tigers, leopards, and black panthers), herbivores (including elephants and rhinos), and birds where he has documented over 150 species.
Spotting black panther was the hardest for him to document, he said.
“I’d been on thousands of safaris and never seen one. But one day I finally spotted one sleeping on a branch for about three hours and made the most of the opportunity.”
“This is only a partial exhibition of his work. He has taken over 60-70 thousand pictures while traveling through forests across India,” said his proud mother, who is partially responsible for his obsession. He has clicked all of the photos on a Nikon D4S.
“My parents used to travel a lot and they continued doing that even after I was born and used to take me along,” said the shy teenager.
“My mother is into photography and I picked up the skill from her.”
The shy teenager hadn’t told his friends this is what he does until yesterday. But on this Friday, he will be giving a talk about his experiences in wildlife photography at Chitrakala Parishth.
